Our Range of Services
We promote dental health using preventative techniques and high quality restorations, keeping ourselves up to date through regular attendance at postgraduate courses.
Both private and NHS services are provided at the practice.
We always keep appointments free for emergencies each day. Please contact us early if you require one of these slots.
"Prevention is better than cure."
For this reason, we strongly recommend regular examinations. This will result in smaller restorations, should the need arise. We encourage you to adopt a low sugar diet with optimal oral hygiene.
We help to prevent tooth decay using fissure sealants childrens' teeth. Our restorations are designed to allow easy cleaning to maximise long-term survival. Check up frequency and treatment is tailored to individual needs.
At the practice we use both composite (white) and amalgam (silver) filling materials.
Both materials will perform well.
For very large cavities, a silver filling is likely to be more durable. In these cases, to achieve a cosmetic result, a crown or an inlay will be needed.
We can improve your smile with techniques such as bleaching, bonding and shaping, veneering and crowning. Bridges can be placed to remove unsightly gaps. In this way, crooked teeth can be straightened and made to look more attractive.
Please let us know if you are unhappy about any aspect of your smile.
Crowns & Inlays
Sometimes also called "caps" a crown is a protective covering cemented over a tooth. These are used to strengthen teeth which have broken or decayed badly. This will also improve the appearance of the teeth.
An inlay is a large filling that is first made at the dental laboratory and then cemented in place.
This is the alignment of crooked teeth.
Complex cases and children are referred to St. Albans and Harpenden Orthodontic practice.
We can replace missing teeth by means of bridges, dentures and implants.
We will help you decide which option to choose.
Patients in pain will be seen on the same day whenever possible.
We keep spaces for emergency appointments. Please telephone as early in the day as possible to book these appointments.
These are titanium root replacements that are placed into your jaw to support a crown or bridge.
Robert has been using this technique since 2007. With more complex cases, he works with Graham Bounds, a consultant Maxillo facial surgeon.
Sterilisation and Hygiene
We use a combination of methods that together provide full protection against cross-infection.
All instruments are sterilised in a hospital type autoclave. Disposable gloves are used by all clinical staff. Disposable products are used wherever possible to prevent cross-infection.
All soiled material is disposed of by authorised agencies.
In adults, more teeth are lost through gum disease than through tooth decay. Gum disease is painless and virtually symptom free until its final stages.
Our dental team will work with you to resolve gum problems.
Our hygienist, Helen, is a vital part of the practice team. She gives instruction in oral hygiene techniques and removes plaque and tartar to achieve a healthier mouth, a whiter smile and fresh breath.
